  1. PARTNER PROGRAM (2021-2022)

LACD implemented the Prosperous Agriculture Roadmap To Nutrition & Entrepreneurship, Reinforcing Sustainability (PARTNERS) program for ZOA- Liberia in Margibi, Bomi and Grand Cape Mount counties. The programme is being implemented by a consortium of three international NGOs (Welthungerhilfe, ZOA, Concern Worldwide) and seven National NGOs including Liberia Agency for Community Development (LACD).

During the project implementation, LACD Strengthened value chains in five strategic crops (Cassava, Cowpeas, Pineapple, Plantain, and Peanuts) which meet required quality standards for consumption. Training of 200 representatives from 100 programme communities on agricultural product development and business management, Established management committees for the management of 35 storage facilities established in the strategic locations in three counties(19 in Margibi County, 9 in Bomi County and 7 in Margibi County) for the purpose of aggregating agricultural produce with good quality before delivering to the market or other customers. The management committees were trained on simple warehousing receipt system so as to effectively manage and properly use the facility, Created forums for producers/buyers/aggregators and host routine networking meetings at the community/district or county level, Disseminated seasonal market information to smallholder farmers through various communication mediums including radio/flyers/telephone apps/ programme community market monitors, Organize marketing events like exhibitions and fair- trade symposium within the programme period at the county level to promote the crops being planted by beneficiaries and Provided training and capacity development on the uses of agricultural equipments that were provided to the smallholder farmers by ZOA-Liberia.

2022, provided consultancy for Concern World Wild and signed three years MOU with Concern World Wild, from 2022-2025

 

 

  1. Ebola Recovery and Reintegration Support Programme Phase-II (2018-2019)

LACD joined the fight against food insecurity from 2018-2019 by partnering with Welthungerhilfe (WHH), formerly German Agro Action (GAA) Liberia, in implementing the agriculture component of the latter’s Ebola Recovery and Reintegration Support Programme Phase-II in Sinoe and Rivercess Counties. The project promoted food and nutrition security within households in 28 selected communities. This project involved LACD partnered with MOA, community stakeholders in selection of project communities and project site and made sure that garden sites/farmlands were problem-free and resolved disputes regarding ownership of farmlands. Selected 230 beneficiaries in the selected communities and districts of the two counties. Full participation of LACD was responsible in the Garden Site Selection, Field Maintenance, and Record Keeping; Food and Nutrition Security, and Behavior Change Communication; Vegetable Nursery Construction and Management, Compost Preparation and Application, and Integrated Pest Management; Cost Benefit Analysis and Disaster Risk Management, and Farmers Leadership and Group Management Dynamics; Village Saving and Loan Association; and Guinea Fowl Production.

LACD conducted trainings of two-hundred, thirty (230) gardeners/beneficiaries in Sinoe and Rivercess Counties on Garden Site Selection, Field Maintenance, and Record Keeping; Food and Nutrition Security, and Behavior Change Communication; Vegetable Nursery Construction and Management, Compost Preparation and Application, and Integrated Pest Management; Cost Benefit Analysis and Disaster Risk Management, and Farmers Leadership and Group Management Dynamics; and Village Saving and Loan Association. Mobilization and monitoring of garden sites selection, clearing and preparation, Distribution of inputs (farming implements) and seeds among beneficiaries along with WHH Agriculture Technicians, Formation of Communities into various clusters: five in each county, Mobilized, demonstrated and monitored nursery construction, seeds nursing, compost preparation, transplanting and direct seed sowing, Regularly monitored backyard garden cultural practices, Elections of farmer group leaderships, established Village Saving and Loan Associations, Resolved conflicts as they arose, encouraging participatory decision making, strengthened communications between and among farmers and farmer groups, encouraged teamwork in farmer groups.

 

 

 

  1. Covid-19 Household Food Support Program(COHFSP) 2020-2021

2020-2021, implemented the stimulus package (General Food Distribution) Covid-19 Household Food Support Program(COHFSP) to the most vulnerable people for WFP in Grand Kru, Rivercess and Grand Bassa. During this project implementation, LACD sub contracted six local partner two in each county for the implementation of the project and building their capacities.

 

  1. Food for Insecure Communities in Grand Kru (2020-2021)

implemented another contract from WFP with funding from USAID (Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance) distributed food to food insecure communities in Grand Kru and Sinoe Counties.

 

  1. Food Assistance for Ivorian Refugees in Liberia (2020-2021)

Also in 2020-2021, implemented a contract from WFP with funding from USAID (Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance) distributed food to the Ivorian Refugees in Maryland, River Gee and Grand Gedeh counties.

 

  1. Ebola Response Project (EMOP) 2014-2015

Again, from 2014 – 2015, LACD partnered with the WFP-Liberia in its Ebola Response Project through the distribution of food, medical supplies and cash provided by WFP-Liberia to Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) affected communities, EVD Survivors, patients in treatment centers and to EVD orphans in Sinoe County, a project which helped in containing the spread of the disease in Liberia. Also, during the response, food & agriculture tools supply was carried out under WFP’s Food for Assets (FFA) Program to rehabilitate feeder roads and mini bridges that give road access for farm-to-market and community-to-clinics in three communities of Sinoe County.
